The Sixth Extinction

Character(s): Gabriel "Sylar" Gray and Claire Bennet
Summary: Building 26 is never shut down. No one convinces the president that it's best to just drop the matter of evolved humans, and Danko is given cart blanche to deal with the super-powered threat as he sees fit. In the next century the Evolved are hunted to the brink of extinction, either out-right exterminated, or imprisoned and exploited for their ability. The number of specials used in this way grows fewer and fewer as time and mishaps progress, but one type is still coveted above all. Exterminating a regenerator is exceedingly difficult, anyway...
Status: In progress/PRIVATE

Mohinder gave Sylar a small wink, but did not smile. He couldn't let the nurse in on what was going on. "It is totally possible and has happened. But I assure you, Mr. Sylar, you will be well taken care of by my team and I."
Sep. 20th, 2010 12:12 am (UTC)
He was silent for a long, stricken moment. He didn't know how to respond. Mohinder Suresh. Mohinder fucking Suresh, here in Shenoy. Alive and well! How was this possible? He couldn't think clearly enough to puzzle it out, so for now he had to accept that it was true.

"Claire..." A single word question with so much behind it. Was she captive? Free? What had they done with her, and did Mohinder honestly think Sylar believed he'd be "well taken care of" given what he'd seen before? Not to mention how he'd been brought here.

He prayed they hadn't caught her, but he wasn't sure how she could have escaped. She'd been right behind him in that rain of explosive bullets. Was she even now being returned to that state of used neglect she'd been subjected to before?

"Yes. Miss Bennett is also here. My team in not in charge of her." The doctor gave the man a small frown before turning to the nurse. "If you could, please bring me a glass of water." He wanted time alone with the brunette. "Please don't take too long. I need to clear the subject's throat. So that we may gather mote information."
Sep. 20th, 2010 01:45 am (UTC)
He waited until the nurse was gone, eyes tracking her progress. When shed gone his gaze snapped back to the man in front of him. "You're not with them." Not a question. He would not accept that Mohinder was truly part of Shenoy.
Sep. 20th, 2010 02:01 am (UTC)
"No. I am not." Mohinder's voice switched easily from the deep, Indian baritone to the soft, British tenor that Sylar would remember so well. He gave the man a knowing smirk. "And I have to say, I'm shocked that they found and successfully captured you. Something had to have happened that turned things in their favor. What was it?"
Sep. 20th, 2010 02:30 am (UTC)
"I hesitated," he was frustrated that he couldn't manage much above a whisper. And that he couldn't move a single fucking finger. That felt disturbingly familiar, but he figured whatever they had him on, it was well enough to keep him pinned, now.

Still, he kept testing, pushing with his mind. Even as they spoke, he was concentrating on Mohinder's tie in the periphery of his vision. He was trying to pull it, even just a little bit, to see if at any moment his telekinesis would come back.

"Get Claire out," he made sure to come back to that before the nurse could get back. Sylar figured he could handle freeing himself eventually. There had never been a prison that could hold him indefinitely, but Claire wasn't as she had been. She could feel now. She needed to get away and quickly.
Sep. 20th, 2010 03:50 am (UTC)
"I've worked too hard and for too long to just let you both walk out." Mohinder said, leaning his hip on the slab Sylar was pinned to. "I've gotten deep enough into Shenoy and it's took me years." The doctor frowned, looking away. "Too many years."

Mohinder was actually enjoying this. It was somewhat sad. Sylar knew him. REALLY knew him. That would be very hard to part with. But he had to. It was necessary.

"I'm sure the numbness you're feeling is familiar. It's curare. You'll have to deal for maybe a day or so, but eventually your body will catch up and you'll have access to your abilities." The Indian turned to lean over Sylar, putting boat arms next to the man's head and looking him dead in the face. "You must promise me, and this is very important... when you get out and I know you... you will, you have to make it look bad. Use everything you have on me. It's going to take everything you have to take me down." Mohinder quickly moved, as he spoke, to the door and listened for a moment. "Claire is three doors down on the left hand side of this hallway. Get her out and vanish. Drop as far off the radar as you can."

The nurse returned just as the doctor finished speaking, water in her trembling hand. With a thick thank you, Mohinder returned to Sylar's side and gave him a small drink of water.

"If you follow the rules," He said in that deep Indian accent. "You'll do fine."
Sep. 20th, 2010 06:48 am (UTC)
"Fuck your rules," he found a little more voice after the drink of water, now thoroughly confused about what the hell Mohinder was up to and what was being asked of him. The Indian was going to let them go?? Both of them?? After all, they both obviously knew the curare was useless... "And you sound ridiculous."

He felt it needed saying. It wouldn't mean anything in front of the nurse. It would just sound like a belligerent captive insulting his captor, but in reality it expressed his confusion and discomfort with the overall reunion. He had no idea what was going on, how Mohinder was even alive.

If the doctor thought Sylar was going to just take Claire and disappear, he had another thing coming. Gabriel wasn't going anywhere without figuring the doctor out.
Sep. 20th, 2010 02:26 pm (UTC)
"Yes, I suppose you think I do." Mohinder laughed at Sylar's comment. The nurse remained oblivious, taking her place behind the doctor and using the Indian to separate herself from the monster on the table.

"I... I heard he w-wiped out the facility in DC..." She said softly, her voice trembling and her hand clutching at the sides of her uniform.

"That he did." 'Dr. Patil' said, his voice sounding grave, but with his face turned down at Sylar, the nurse could not see the brilliant approving smile. "This on is very, very powerful and you must never underestimate him. Isn't that right, Mr. Sylar?"

Sep. 20th, 2010 04:37 pm (UTC)
"I was just fine, living and letting live, before you fool doctors tried to take me down," he growled, softly. "They brought that on themselves. Let me go, now," he eyed the nurse, "and you could avoid the same fate."

She cringed slightly, but though she was afraid in the face of first meeting this man, she was made of stronger mettle than that. "I... I don't think so. You're a company asset now. Really, Dr. Patil, why do we even need to talk to him?"
Sep. 20th, 2010 05:01 pm (UTC)
"We don't have to talk to him. You may ignore him if you wish." The doctor winked down at Sylar with a grin before turning a frown on the nurse. "We need him healthy enough for harvesting. Unfortunately, the only thing I can think of allows him to be awake."
Sep. 20th, 2010 05:53 pm (UTC)
"Honestly, curare? Didn't they phase that medication out decades ago?" The nurse was more than happy to ignore the brunette, preferring to think of these things as a commodity, rather than a person. "If we weren't at an HQ I doubt we would have even stocked it."

For his part, Sylar was going nuts! He wanted a proper discussion with the Indian. He also wanted to shave that bushy beard down to its proper level of stubble. This was not acceptable! "I think you'll find me rather difficult to ignore, Doctor. Tell me, what was the draw to a place like Shenoy? Was the paycheck enough or do you consider human experimentation a perk?"
Sep. 20th, 2010 06:48 pm (UTC)
"Curare is quite an archaic yet potent substance. You must also remember that this man has been around for a long time." Mohinder smiled at the nurse, adjusting the brunette's IV as he spoke. "And as for my job, it was the intrigue of specials like yourself that drew me."
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:07 pm (UTC)
Sylar chuckled softly. "And aside from myself, how much job satisfaction have you managed, hm?"
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:34 pm (UTC)
"I suppose I would have gone without." Mohinder laughed, pulling a vile of blood from the brunette's vein.
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:44 pm (UTC)
He couldn't flinch, but he frowned. No others then. However long Mohinde had been at Shenoy, he hadn't me any newly evolved. "We really are extinct then. Virtually. …Don't think that means I'm giving up. Or that it can't happen again. Nature safe guarded these genes when it made the immortals."
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:47 pm (UTC)
"It's a pity. So far, miss Bennet it the only female left from what I understand." That probably rubbed Sylar in all the wrong ways.
Sep. 20th, 2010 09:59 pm (UTC)
His eyes narrowed slightly. "I inherited it from my father. It doesn't have to travel in the female line, and from what I've seen all it takes is one parent, latent or not, so don't you dare think of breeding her. If Shenoy does that I won't stop until this company is as past-tense as our race."
Sep. 20th, 2010 10:05 pm (UTC)
That certainly frightened the nurse. She took a step back from the slab, clenching her dress once more. "Why would we want more of your kind?" The doctor said cooly.
Sep. 21st, 2010 12:06 am (UTC)
"Greed and hubris are this company's defining crimes. I wouldn't put it past Shenoy, but I'm personally acquainted with the cost of those sins. I'll make sure you pay," bold, for a paralyzed man, but he knew he could makengood if he had to.
Sep. 21st, 2010 12:23 am (UTC)
"Oh really?" Mohinder chuckled heartily. "I can't wait to see that. If it happens in my lifetime." He laughed again.

"Maybe... Maybe we shouldn't taunt him?" The nurse said, a small tremble in her voice.
Sep. 21st, 2010 01:16 am (UTC)
Sylar smiled at the nurse. "You're a smart girl. It's really too bad they assigned you here. Maybe if you're kind to me when I'm awake I'll find some mercy for you. The water was a good start. I know they barely sustained Claire in D.C. May I have another drink?"

She was cautious in her approach but did as he asked and helped him with the cup. He watched her with dark eyes and when she stepped back he smiled. "Very brave."
Sep. 21st, 2010 02:01 am (UTC)
Mohinder scoffed quietly and rolled his eyes. Watching the interchange between the two before deciding that he could probably get the girl to leave.

"Why don't go get a water pouch for Mr. Sylar here?" The doctor suggested. "It seems that he is very thirsty. I'll be alright." He assured her once she gave him yet another questioning look. "It's fine."

"Alright." The woman nodded and couldn't have scampered out of there any faster.
Sep. 21st, 2010 02:47 am (UTC)
"Joykill," Sylar smirked as the nurse disappeared. "I don't get to threaten anyone any more. Things get so dull."
Sep. 21st, 2010 02:59 am (UTC)
"You need to leave her alone." Mohinder smiled down at Sylar, dropping the act once more. "You're scaring her." He laughed, not honestly caring so much about the nurse. "So, while she's gone, I'm sure you have some questions. I'd lessen your dosages, but their is surveillance video in here. Sorry."
